Top 100 Boy’s Names for 2018

It will be interesting to see which baby boy names climbed up the slope of popularity.
The boy name Logan climbed up 7 places from 11 and name Aiden climbed up 7 places to 14 which are the highest climbers in the Top 10 baby names list.
Further to it, the rising trend shows that boy names William and Julian are rising fast, showing the reverse trend of “Old Man names” with William climbed up by 8 places to 23 and Julian moved up 11 places to 35.
Interestingly some names maintained their year over year positions in the top boy names list, to name a few Ethan did not move from the number 8 as well as the name Lucas moved up steadily by 4 places to 13. It has shown a trend over last few years.
Which are the Latest trends in boys names this year?
When I say trends, meaning the names have climbed the ladder very fast, practically jumped over by large numbers indicating the latest trend.
Top trend in boy name is Christopher which rose up 6 places to 37 and catching popularity in this modern era, but I will say it is an excellent derivative of the eternally popular name, Christ.
One more contemporary name showing rising trend is Joshua, which rose up 8 places into the Top 40!
Which names are completely new over a decade now?
Yes… if you get back to the time machine, back till the year 2000, you will find totally different names in the top 100 list. Over the years some of the names floated up in the top 100 or even top 20 popular names list.
What is my prediction for the next decade on boy names?
I will just say that names which has climbed the ladders by large number would indicate that they will keep rising to the top 10 in coming years.
They will be the trend setters for the next decade, like the name Mateo moved up 33 places to 69! wow! and the name Aaron moved up 23 places 70, finally the name Jason got its place into the Top 100 names list at 93 last year (up movement by 37 places).
Which are Boys names on the decline now? Elimination list?
This year saw decline in some of the most popular baby boys names like the name Joseph moved down 6 places to 15 which is one of the most liked biblical names over years. (On the other hand, modern biblical names like Elijah moved up to third place in top 10 list!).
Other popular names which moved down the ladder showing declining trend are Dylan (moved down 9 places at 36) and Caleb (slide down 13 places at 48).
Some of the lost positions within the Top 100 are Leonardo moved down 10 places at 94, Tyler slide down 17 places at 97 hence thrown out from the Top 100 list.

To write this post I have taken reference of some of the names list in the US Social Security Administration officially released its list of popular baby names from 2018. But not all things are perfectly inline with this database, some of the trends indicated above are derived from various websites spelling out changes in trends, from private research and talks. So please do not take the indices literally, but only use them as reference. Finally you are going to provide name of baby you like from the list and not looking at the declining or inclining trends!
From the desk of Olivia
While I wanted to decide the name of baby, since I did not do any gender investigation for my baby before birth, me and Bryan decided to have two baby names decided if its a boy or it its a girl. We discussed it a lot among family and friends, took opinion from grandparents.
It was really fun fighting for baby names! someone likes the trendy one and the other traditional one! It was an endless fight, enlisting various names and chalking off some of them.
Best way I suggest is to download PDF file and get print, so that you can tick one by one!
